Claire's First Day of School

Claire is in kindergarten!  She had her first day of school and it went so well.  She was so ready to start school and has been counting down the days for weeks.  Neither Bryce or I had any worries and we were just as excited as she was.

She was so excited to wear her first day of school outfit she picked out and use her new pink sparkly backpack that even has her name on it.

We live very close to wear she is going to kindergarten so we all rode scooters and bikes to school with her.  We took her to her classroom and her teacher showed her wear to hang up her backpack then directed us to take her outside to play at recess as all the kids were arriving.  She gave us a big hug and ran off to make new friends.  It was a huge parent payday for me.  I know a lot of moms get very emotional about their kids going to kindergarten, but honestly I was just excited for her!  I love seeing my kids grown and reach new milestones and this was a big one she had been looking forward to for a long time.  The only tears in our family came from Peter who realized as Bryce and I took him home he was losing his best friend for a few hours every day now.  He cried and it was heartbreaking, but he will be starting preschool soon and I'm sure will adjust just fine to the new routine.

Visit to the Train Museum

We visited the train museum before school started for everyone.  I'd been meaning to take the kids all summer and the last week of summer finally motivated me to take them.  I love that there are so many affordable, fun things to do with the kids where we live.  The train Museum on 25th Street in Ogden is small but still worth going to once in a while.  Peter is very into trains so he was the most excited about going!

Na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na... BATMAN!

Best $17 I have spent in a while. He is so excited!

Back to School Feast

We had our first back to school feast we've had in a few years. This year Claire is starting kindergarten, Peter is starting preschool, and I am starting grad school. Bryce is the only who won't be in school this year (he's very happy about it). We're excited to see what the new school year will bring for all of us!

Backyard Campout + Hot Air Ballon Festival

Our kids really wanted to go camping this year.  We tried to schedule a short camping trip one weekend but changes to Bryce's work schedule didn't really leave room for one.  We decided to have a campout in our backyard one night instead.  I am not a huge fan of camping (honestly, I kind of hate it) so I was happy about this compromise.  We roasted hot dogs in our fire pit and pitched our tent in the backyard.  The kids were so excited about it!

The next morning we woke up early and went to the Hot Air Ballon Festival in Eden.

We had all stayed up quite late at our campout the night before so neither kid was in a very good mood after having to wake up at six that morning.  Oh well, it was still worth it.  :)

We finished off the weekend with our back to school feast (separate post) to get ready for school starting for everyone!

Summer Fort Building

There are few things that feel more like summer to me than reading endless stacks of books in a fort of your own making.

Claire's First Lost Tooth

Claire lost her first yesterday!  It has been very wiggly for a few weeks and she finally wiggled it enough that it fell out.  I found this cute tooth pillow for her on eBay (and one for Peter I'm saving) that has a little pocket on the back to leave the tooth in for the tooth fairy.  The tooth fairy left her a gold dollar.  She says she is never spending it and is going to save it forever.
