Halloween 2019

Halloween was so much fun this year. We went with a fairy tale theme for costumes.  I was a Book Fairy/the book that the characters came from.  Bryce was a Knight, Rory was a princess, Claire was a unicorn, and Peter was a dragon.  It was a freezing cold night, but we still had lots of fun trick or treating and eating too much candy (us, not the kids).  I also turned 30 years old (will ruminate about this in another post)!

Fall Break Trip to St. George

We took a trip to St. George for Fall Break this year. My aunt lives there and always invites us stay with her. We went for the first time last year and loved it so much we knew we wanted to go again.  We were able to fit in a lot in the 4 days we were there.
Day 1:
Drove to St. George, ate Chicfila when we got to St. George.  Arrived at my Aunt's house and watched a movie outside on the projector.
Day 2:
We went to the children's museum:
Rode scooters around the downtown area.

We made a stop at the cute old fashioned candy/ice cream shoppe Judd's Store.

We played at the Thunder Junction park and splashpad and rode on the cute little train at the park.  After we finished playing at the park we picked up take out from Viva Chicken (very yummy Peruvian food).

We ate at my Aunt's house and then got everyone ready to go to a musical.  We took both kids to see The Little Mermaid at Tuacahn Theater.  It was amazing!! This is the second year we've seen a show here and each one has been incredible.  Our kids did fantastic sitting through the whole show.  They both thoroughly enjoyed it!

Day. 2We explored and hiked around Pioneer Park.
We visited the St. George library.
The kids played at the splash pad in Town Square and my aunt met up with us and brought Pizza for lunch.  After we were done we took the kids back to my Aunt's house and she took them on an outing so Bryce and I got to go on a date.  We ate a Thai restaurant that was super delicious.  After we finished dinner we picked up Claire to take her to one more show at Tuacahn.  We weren't sure if Peter would be able to stay up late two nights in a row so we had him stay at my Aunt's for the second show.  The second musical we saw was called When you Wish and was a compilation of Disney songs and scenes from popular Disney movies.  It was perfect for Claire she loved it so much!

Day 3:
We spent the day exploring Snow Canyon State Park and hiked Whiterocks Amphitheater.
My aunt let us borrow her jeep which so fun to drive through Snow Canyon State Park in.  Peter especially loved riding in the jeep and couldn't stop smiling.  We packed our lunch with us and ate during our hike.  After we were finished hiking we got frozen custard and ice cream and went back to my Aunt's house to hang out with her our last night.
We had a BBQ outside and my Aunt cooked chicken and vegetable kebabs on the grill.  Claire ate mostly rice and a few bites of chicken.  Peter ate mostly potato chips.  We stayed until about the kid's bedtime and then started out on our drive home.  It's about a 4 1/2 hour drive.  Peter slept basically the entire drive home.  Claire stayed awake for quite awhile listening to an audiobook with us but we finally had to turn it off and make her go to sleep when it started getting really late.  It was such a fun family trip!  Next time we go we want to see Zion's and Bryce Canyon National Parks that we weren't able to fit in this time around.

Breakfast with a Witch

Claire and I went to Witchapalooza at Gardner Village last Saturday with my mom, sister, niece, and sister in law. This our third time going and we decided this year to try Breakfast with a Witch.  Claire and her cousin Lydia loved it and had so much fun dressing up as witches.  There was a buffet style breakfast and a short interactive program with the witches for the kids.  There wasn't really a play like we were expecting.  Having done both the breakfast and the dinner version now, we all preferred the dinner version with the play so we are planning on doing that next year.

We had just finished reading The Witches by Road Dahl as a family read aloud and in the first picture Claire is meeting the "Grand High Witch". She told her excitedly, "We just read a book about you!"  The witch knew exactly which book Claire was referring to and had a cute little conversation with her.  Claire couldn't stop talking about meeting the Grand High Witch for the rest of the weekend!
