I finished up week 2 of my photography class, and I am loving it so much! I by no means ever plan on being a professional photographer, but it is a hobby I enjoy and have always wanted to improve. This class is perfect for that. It is a one month online course through nicolesclasses.com. The class has weekly video tutorials and weekly reading assignments that have tons of information for learning the basics of digital and film photography. You also submit homework once a week and Nicole Gerulat, the teacher, critiques it for you. She is an awesome teacher and is wonderful at helping you learn how you can improve your photos. These are all the shots I submitted for week two.

Valentine's Day 2013
I gave Bryce the fox card and he gave me the heart one.
I had a hard time thinking of a fun surprise for Bryce that only cost $15. After a few days of brainstorming I finally came up with the idea of getting him a desk sized anatomy model. He loves learning about the body and constantly is telling me things about it that he's learned so I hoped it would be a fun surprise for him. He loved it. He was so excited he put the whole thing together as soon as we finished eating dinner.
Bryce gave me a new book, The Guardian. He knows me so well. Reading is my most favorite hobby. I couldn't have picked a better gift out myself. After dinner and exchanging gifts we ended the night with a movie, popcorn, and cuddling. It was such a fun little holiday and a welcome excuse to celebrate Love.

Scenes from the Weekend of our Eleventh Month of Marriage
I started my photography class last Monday so this weekend Bryce got to be my model for some of my homework. Don't let him tell you different, he loved it.
We got a new rug for under our dining table. A million and one people have it, but I don't care I still love it.
I've been reading Elder Maxwell's biography. It's goood. He lived such an exemplary life.

Grown Up Couch
When Bryce and I first got married our only couch was a cheapie microfiber futon that I bought on amazon. As newlyweds just starting out it happened to be one that fit in our budget. It was a good little couch, just emphasis on the little. It bothered Bryce all the time that we couldn't both sprawl out on it comfortably to watch movies or take naps. Finally with the new year and a raise at work, meaning bigger paychecks, we decided we could afford an upgrade. On Saturday we went to Ikea and bought a real grown-up couch (with a 10 year warranty, so the next time we need one I'll be 33! yikes!) and I finally got around to hanging a little gallery wall I've been wanting to do for a while.
Our couch is the biggest purchase we've made together since we've been married. I guess this means we're exiting the newlywed stage and moving on to the stage where you buy real furniture and go to bed before eleven. I'm not sure how I feel about it.

How to Guarantee a Date out of your Husband
I clock watched at work all day long on Friday. Fridays are always like that it seems. I painfully count down the minutes to the official beginning of the weekend. Mine began at exactly 3:04. I packed up my things at work and headed home to meet Bryce.
We try to go on some sort of date once a week, but you see we are nearing the 1 year mark of being married and although not purposefully, things have been a bit boring as of late. Most of our dates have consisted of me making dinner and then us eating together and watching something on netflix.
Friday our night was booked. We were going to do baptisms for the dead at the temple with the young men and young women in our ward. Driving with two beehives in our backseat and my husband grasping for conversation starters asking them if they're into cage fighting doesn't really qualify as a date in my book. But that husband of mine, he has a way with words.
So Friday was out but that still left hope for Saturday. However, Bryce decided to tell me while we were headed out the door Friday night that he was going ice fishing the next day with his friend. I pouted and dramatically whined about how rude he was to ditch me on my only day off of work and the only day I could spend the whole day with him.
He shrugged me off nonchalantly and said, "Oh you'll be fine. It's just one day. Do a craft and read some blogs or something." Drat. We've only been married ten months and already he no longer bats an eyelash at my over-exaggerated emotional declarations. I needed a new tactic.
Saturday rolled around. Bryce was gone helping at a track meet for athletic training in the morning and planned to go ice fishing around noon. I spent my morning doing my usual deep-cleaning Saturday routine which includes items like changing the sheets (every Saturday no exceptions), scrubbing the bathroom, dusting, sweeping & mopping, etc. all while I contemplated whether I really liked Justin Timberlake or not. (I decided I do. I don't know if I should be embarrassed about this or not. But his SNL skits were the deciding factor and you guys, he is funny in those skits.)
After I finished my chores I took a shower to wash off all the yucky grime from cleaning and had big plans to spend the rest of the day watching Downton Abbey and working on an embroidery project. As I was just getting out of the shower and towel drying my hair I heard loud banging on my apartment door. I looked at my phone and saw it was only eleven o clock. Bryce must've come home early to change. I paused and decided I had better dry my hair a little more before I answered the door. I took my time and dried thoroughly, not because I was still bothered at my husband for ditching me, but because it is really cold outside and I know Bryce would agree that he wouldn't want me to get sick or anything.
It had been a few more minutes. I was cozied up in my fluffy red bath robe and had my hair wrapped up in a towel the way girls do from age ten and up. I heard more banging on the door and decided I'd better go answer it.
I jerked open the door with my face prepared to remind Bryce of how hurt I still was and instead I was greeted by my little brother.
"Oh!" I exclaimed. "What are you doing here?"
"I came to pick up your snowboard so I could wax it and sharpen up the edges for you before we go snowboarding tonight," he replied.
I had forgotten that a week or two prior Bryce and I had talked about maybe going night snowboarding with Rhett the Saturday after I got paid again. My little brother Rhett never forgets anything he is looking forward to and was exactly on schedule.
"Oh yeah! We completely forgot! Bryce is going ice fishing, so he probably won't come but I definitely want to still," I looked down at my bathrobe and remembered the lovely ensemble I was wearing. "Umm... come in. I'll go get dressed and then get my board for you."
Ha! I cheered in my head. My Saturday wasn't going to be a bust after all. I quickly dressed and sent my brother off with my snowboard and planned where to meet up with him.
I triumphantly sent Bryce a text letting him know I would not be spending my day alone and that I was going snowboarding with Rhett. I decided to be nice and ask if he wanted to go just in case. Then as an afterthought I sent him another text stating I was going whether he came or not. You know, just to clarify things.
Before I could even set my phone down I got a text back stating simply "I'm coming".
I wrote him back and asked, "Are you sure? You really don't have to if you don't want to. I can just go with Rhett and you can go fishing."
He replied, "No I'd much rather go snowboarding. I'm coming. I'll see you in a bit."
Ba da bing. We went snowboarding for our Saturday Night date. (Maybe my little brother and his friend came too, but I promise it was still a hot date.)
How to Guarantee a Date out of your Husband
Step 1 Dramatically whine and guilt trip husband into taking you on a date (as stated earlier hasn't been as successful for me lately)
Step 2 If step 1 does not work make plans to do one of his most favorite things with your little brother
Step 3 Invite him to come but make sure he knows you are going with or without him
Step 4 Your husband will take you on a date.
