Utah got hit last weekend by a huge snow storm. The storm was named Gandalf, and Gandalf was not kidding around. It started snowing about 2 pm on Thursday and snowed until Friday night. It was equal parts beautiful and scary, but mostly scary only if you had to drive in it. Bryce measured Friday morning and we had already gotten 14 inches and it snowed the rest of the day too, so I'm guessing we got close to 20 inches total.
Saturday, when it finally stopped snowing I told Bryce I wanted to go outside and play in it. And he being an adult who still watches batman cartoons, was more than willing to appease my request. We put on all our snow gear, ventured outside, and built ourselves a snow cave. It was so much fun. I used to do stuff like this all the time when I was a kid. It was nice to spend an afternoon with no cares and just play in the snow.
Here's our little cave before we added the entrance tunnel.
It is large enough inside to fit probably 3 adults comfortably sitting and Bryce is 6'1 and can kneel with barely having to duck his head a bit. Once we had finished digging it out we decided to add a more narrow tunnel for the entrance. Bryce said it was to maintain more heat on the inside, but I said it would just make it look cuter and more like a real igloo.
There's our little cave. I guess we should probably name it baby Gandalf after its dad who created this mess of snow. If you need something to cure your winter blues, I think this would definitely work.
