Tot School: Week 11 Halloween

Week 11 of Tot School fell on the week before October 31, so our theme was Halloween!  Here are the activities we did throughout the week:


Day 1: We did some Halloween dot paintings, we decorated a chalkboard halloween house I found in the dollar aisle at Target, and we played pumpkin bowling.  For snack time we made chocolate covered pretzel pumpkins.
Day 2: We read and acted out the book Room on the Broom.  This one of Claire's favorite books so she LOVED doing this. Then later before nap time we watched the movie version of Room on the Broom and I had Claire hold up the little puppet when they came into the scene.  For snack time we made string cheese pretzel brooms.  
Day 3: We did Candy Corn letters & pictures, a Room on the Broom coloring page, we made spider sandwiches for lunch, decorated a Halloween sticker page, and we "grew" some pumpkins from a little kit I found in the dollar aisle of Target.  This was the before and I totally forgot to take an after picture but they about tripled in size.  This was fun for Claire to check on every day.
Day 4: We made Halloween handprint paintings, watched Its the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, and played outside in the leaves.
Day 5: We made these Halloween silhouettes.  I had Claire paint paper plates with orange and yellow paint, I cut out the silhouette, and Claire glued the silhouettes onto the plate. We read all of our Halloween books, listened to Halloween songs on youtube, and carved pumpkins (pictures in separate post).  We had such a fun week getting all ready for my favorite holiday!
