Peter Bryson Month by Month: 7 Months

December 27, 2016

Dear Peter,

Today you turned 7 months old.  You just celebrated your first Christmas two days ago.  For Christmas you got a new car seat, a stuffed puppy, a walking/push toy, a wooden fishing toy, trucks, a new outfit, and books.  You may have been more fascinated with the wrapping paper and boxes, but I think you were still happy with your gifts.

You are at such a fun age.  You are starting to get more mobile, still not close to crawling but you roll all over the place.  I'll set you down on one end of the room and leave to go do something and then when I come back you will have rolled all the way across the room and are usually stuck by the wall.

You are eating solids still pretty reluctantly.  You're not really a fan of baby food, but you still don't have any teeth so your choices are pretty limited.  You used to sleep pretty good but lately you have been waking up several times a night.  Hopefully its just teething or a phase that you will grow out of quickly.

Your first (unintentional) word is "Dada".  You say dadada all the time.  Your dad is pretty pleased with himself since both yours and your sister's first words were both "Dada."  Even though that is your first, unintentional, word you are still very much a mommy's boy.  You have recently starting fussing and crying a little if I give you to someone else for a minute.  You keep your eyes on my like a hawk and start crying whenever I leave the room.  I do love all of the smiles and snuggles you give me whenever I come back though.

I can't believe another month has come and gone already.  You will be a year old before I know it!

Love you too much,

Mom

Tot School: Week 18 Christmas

The week before Christmas, for week 18 of Tot School, our theme was "Christmas" of course :).  It was a short week because we had a lot going on but we still managed to fit in a few fun activities:

Day 1:  We did lots of Christmas dot paint worksheets, Claire loves these and we worked on different things like the letter C, patterns, and numbers while doing them.  We also watched Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer to start checking off all our Christmas movies off our list!
Day 2:  We did a Christmas sensory bin with pretend snow, that Claire loved.  This was pretty messy but Claire had a blast throwing the snow up in the air and yelling, "Look mom!  It's snowing!".  We read a bunch of our Christmas books, and watched Frosty the Snowman.
Day 3:  We made a cotton-ball Christmas tree painting and played with the Christmas sensory bin again.
Day 4:  We made gingerbread houses!  This was by far one of her favorite activities.  She thought our little houses were so cute and she loved getting to eat lots of trees while we decorated them.  I also got out my guitar and Claire got to use some bell instruments while we sang Christmas carols.  We also watched the Santa Clause that night when Bryce was home with popcorn and M&Ms to get us all ready for Christmas Eve which was the next day.

Best Buds

These two are already the best of friends.  Claire gets so excited whenever he wakes up from his naps and always wants to be the first person to go say hi to him after he wakes up.  A few weeks ago while I was finishing making lunch we heard him wake up and Claire happily said, "I'll go talk to him Mom!"  Usually she just stands outside his crib and talks, sings, or dances for him. This day I happened to walk in and find this sweet little scene.  Needless to say I quickly grabbed my camera and snapped a few shots.  Sibling love is by far one of the sweetest things I've gotten to witness as a parent.
