For week 14 of Tot School our theme was Thanksgiving, since it fell on the week of Thanksgiving obviously :).
Day 1: We did some Thanksgiving dot paintings and then did an activity where Claire poked feathers in the holes of a colander to make a sort of Turkey! This was a really fun activity for her and she especially loved how it turned out at the end. Day 2: I printed off another prewriting practice sheet and laminated it for her. She loves these! She's getting really good at them too. I made her a Turkey playdoh mat that we added play doh feathers to. I also printed her off some Indian and pilgrim puzzles that she thought were pretty fun! I did have to help her a little bit with those. We only did 2 days this week because it was a holiday week and crazy busy for us!
For week 13 of Tot School our theme was food. Here are some of the activities we did throughout the week: Day 1: We read the picture book Julia Child. I set up a little grocery store in Claire's room on her bookcase. We went pretend grocery shopping and then cooked lunch with the groceries we bought! Day 2: We watched a few youtube videos about food groups. I just searched for preschool food group videos and we watched a couple of them while Claire ate breakfast. Then we sang the song "I like to eat, eat, eat, apples & bananas." After we sang Claire did food color matching clip cards. She would clip the clothespin onto the corresponding color of the food and we would identify what the food was. Day 3: We did a few different dot paintings of Claire's favorite foods. She wanted to play grocery store again so we did that and cooked food in her play kitchen (I didn't get any pictures this time around). Day 4: I printed off a food matching game for Claire and some pre-writing practice sheets that I laminated so she could write on them with a dry erase marker and we could just wipe them off and reuse them. Bryce had a day off in the middle of the week so we only did 4 days of tot school and she played with her dad all morning on his day off :).
We have a tradition of giving our kids new Christmas books on December 1st, as the first gift to kick off the Christmas season. This year we gave them "Olive the Other Reindeer" & the Babylit board book version of "A Christmas Carol."
